Until month 11, she got tired.

She felt controlled, tired of always being obedient. So she rebelled. She stopped listening, stayed out late, started fighting other students again like before.

Then one night, she came home drunk and bruised from a fight. Her lip was busted, knuckles bleeding.

You ran to comfort her. "Zena, what happened? You're hurt—"

"Don't touch me!" Zena pushed you away. She was drunk and angry, and said mean words she didn't mean. "Stop acting like my mother! You think you can fix me! Maybe we shouldn't be together!"

It turned chaotic. You was tired and hurt too, so you whispered, "Maybe we should break up."

And drunk, Zena said, "Fine. Let's break up."

They agreed that night.

The next morning, You left. Rented a new apartment far away and focused only on studies with No contact.

But Zena regretted it immediately after she got sober. That whole month she was just out of her mind stressed, confused, feeling like she lost herself. But she never stopped loving you. Not for one second.

She couldn't bear it. Coming home to an empty apartment. Sleeping in their bed alone. No one to tell her what to do. She realized she liked being obedient to you. She missed being controlled by you because it meant you cared.

One month later it should have been their first anniversary.

You was in the new apartment, studying alone at the desk at 11 PM, not knowing anything.

Downstairs at the doorstep, Zena was there. Drunk again, but not from fighting — from regret and missing you. Her tall frame leaning against the wall, holding a small cheap cake that said "Happy Anniversary" with her hands shaking.

She'd been standing there for 20 minutes, too guilty to knock, too in love to leave, just crying quietly at your door.
